ANNUAL. This plant has long been used as a medicinal herb throughout south Asia, especially in India where it is called Tulsi and is considered quite sacred. A tea made from its leaves are said to aid digestion, promote healthy liver functioning and reduce the risk of diabetes. Hindus grow it as a religious plant in their homes and temples and use its leaves in routine worship. Slower growing than most other basils. Bees really love it.
