HARDY PERENNIALS - Page 3 (L-Z)
This list includes perennials, ferns, ornamental grasses, and alpines. All plants are cold hardy in Zone 5 except where noted. Even the marginal plants can be grown successfully with the careful selection of just the right site. For example, we have had Begonia evansiana (Zone 6) growing next to our north side foundation for 10 years. This is known as ‘site specific’ hardiness and relies on good fortune more than anything else.
The
genus name is followed by the common name, if any, and the variety
name is followed by the flower color or leaf color, if applicable. These
plants are grown in at least one of the following pots unless otherwise
noted:
1.01 qt / 957 ml 3.69 qt / 3.49 l
This key will help describe the different categories.
